Very fine transparent green tourmaline, possibly dravite or schorl.
A very unusual occurrence of faden quartz, not normally found in Tasmania. “Faden” refers to the German for thread and relates to the white thread running through the two crystals, top left to bottom right.
Longest crystal is 45mm.
The specimen has very good coverage of wavellite, and interestingly some of the back areas of the specimen has wavellite in other colours, light green, and water-clear. Ex Neil Smith collection. 48x30x37mm.

A mixture of Mn-rich calcite-Ca-rich rhodochrosite pseudomorphing kutnohorite, sitting on drusy quartz crystals. According to Ralph Bottrill, analyses showed Mn40Ca60 and Mn75Ca25 from XRD. Tiny fibrous pale-yellow tufts and crust. This was the second locality for alwilkinsite-(Y), named after good friend, Al Wilkins in 2016. It could have been very different. The Italian one was first described (as an unknown) in 2005!
