ncat WD217 Wairakite after Laumontite, Kurumazawa gabbro quarry, Katashina, Gunma Prefecture, Japan

Wairakite is one of the rarer zeolite species. It’s typically found around hot springs and forms white dodecahedral crystals similar to analcime. In this case, the white wairakite is completely replacing the elongated, stick-like crystals of another zeolite, laumontite. 35x28x12mm. Brenton Mah photos.
