4174 Forsterite, “Lomu Islands”, Tonga

The so-called “Lomu Islands” rose up above the surface of the sea due to eruptions in 2000. There were calls to name them as such after the All Blacks rugby player Jonah Lomu, but this wasn’t officially done. The islands subsequently eroded away. This specimen was collected by Dredge ND-03 from “South Cones Target A”.
